Program Information

Thanks to a recent grant from the state of Tennessee, SCTWA now offers healthcare training and education programs to the members of our rural communities completely free of cost.

Read more below to find out if you qualify to participate.

Modern hospital hallway
  • SCTWA provides training through the use of Aztec Software online training programs.

  • Lessons are online-only, and it is strongly recommended to take them on a desktop or laptop computer rather than a tablet or phone.

    • Students who do not have access to a laptop or desktop computer may be able to borrow a laptop from SCTWA. If you are interested in this, please contact your program coordinator for more details.

  • All students will be given an orientation before starting training to help them understand how to navigate and use the online training.

    • Orientations will preferably be given in person, but if that is not possible for whatever reason, they can also be done over Zoom.

  • Students may be required to take a state licensing exam after completing the training.

  • There are a limited number of “seats” available for each program. If a student’s preferred program does not have any available seats, they may choose to either:

    • Reserve their space in line, waiting until a seat becomes available

    • Sign up for a different SCTWA Rural Healthcare Training Program

    • Request information on other non-SCTWA healthcare training programs

  • Program “seats” are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • As a self-guided program, the length of time to complete it is dependent on how much time a student spends on it. However, for diligent students, the estimated length of time to complete each program is roughly 20 weeks.

    • The Medical Administrative Assistant program is significantly shorter than the other three, taking about half the time they do.

  • There are no fees for students to enroll or participate in this training.

  • Students will be required to attend an in-person or virtual orientation before starting training.

General

  • Students are expected to spend no less than 5 hours per week on average working on the training program, ideally closer to 10-15. We have a limited number of “seats” available, and in order to make sure training is as effective and efficient as possible, students who do not spend enough time on their lessons may be removed to make room for students who are on the waiting list.

    • If you will be temporarily unable to work on the training program for more than one week for any reason, please contact your program coordinator.

  • Students may be required to take a state licensing exam after completing the SCTWA training program.

  • Students may be required to pass a drug test and/or background check before starting at any careers that are a part of this program.

    • A criminal record, particularly one involving a theft or drug-related charge, will likely disqualify someone from working at some or all of these careers.

  • All students are required to be 18 or older.

  • All students are required to have a high school diploma or equivalent (HiSET, GED).

  • Students must live in: Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Giles, Grundy, Hickman, Lawrence, Lewis, Lincoln, Marshall, Maury, Moore, Perry, Warren, Wayne, or Williamson county. â€‹

  • If you would like to quit the training program, please contact your program coordinator.
